In January 2021, the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) discontinued Class 2 certificates, making Class 3 DSC the universal mandatory standard for all statutory filings across MCA V3, GST, Income Tax, and e-Tenders.

Under Indian law, only Certifying Authorities licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), can issue valid DSCs. Prominent licensed CAs include eMudhra Limited, Capricorn Identity Services, VSign (Verasys), Pantasign, IDSign, and Protean (formerly NSDL). Certificates from all these licensed CAs are legally recognized across all Indian government portals.

You must use the CA's official download utility with your original Application ID and Challenge Password. You must immediately revoke your DSC if your USB token is lost, stolen, damaged, or if your token PIN has been compromised.
